Books ‘n BrewGroup Name: Books ‘n Brew
Focus: Fellowship
Frequency: Once a month (3rd Friday)
Location: Varies - members take turns hosting at their home
Leader: Karen Apland
Details: This is a book discussion group open to anyone interested in reading and discussing books. We meet in the evening, after dinner (generally at 7:30) for about 1.5 hours at the home of one of the book club members. Snacks and beer (wine, soft drinks) are provided by the host although other members frequently bring food/drinks to share. The books we read are chosen by concensus by the group. We try to strike a balance between fiction and non-fiction with the main prerequisite of the book being that it contains thought-provoking issues (ethical, moral, religious) to discuss. Each member is responsible for getting a copy of the book. Discussion is open and free-form - no specific questions are “assigned” to be discussed - as members discuss particular aspects
of the book that interested or resonated with them.
